A Day I Will Never Forget

I have breast cancer. I can't believe it when I say it, type it, or talk about it. breast cancer. Those are two words that will change my life forever. I will not capitalize those words, ever. They do not deserve to be recognized in a bold way. I am BIGGER than breast cancer. This blog is being created to express my emotions, keep those close to me informed, and more importantly keep a "diary" of a journey that I hoped my family and I would never have to take. However, this diary is not locked and hidden away, it is wide open for all to see and read. I love seeing how God works in our lives and what better way than to keep a journal. My goal is to look back on this blog in the future and see all the ways God performed miracles in my life. I hope throughout this journey, everyone reading this will learn valuable lessons and that their lives would be changed as well. I will not become a victim to this disease and I will not let it win. If you do choose to read this blog and join me on my journey, all I ask is that each time you read a new post, you would stop and say a prayer for me and my family. With that being said, it's now time to kick this cancer's butt.

Melody, your faith in the Lord gives ME encouragement and strength! Remember the message a few weeks ago from the Wed night prayer service? This verse came to mind as I read your blog this morning:

"The Lord says to you, 'Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope because of this huge army. The battle is not yours. It is Mine'." (2 Chronicles 20:15).

You WILL have victory because the Lord is on your side. He is fighting for you!

I am so impressed by your strength (although I already knew you were a strong minded lady!). I know that you will come out on the other side of your journey even wiser, stronger, and healthier than when you started.

Mel, you, Ryan and Charlie are in our prayers. When I am going through a stormy time in my life I always think of a song that has given me encouragement over the years. It is "When You Walk Through A Storm" by Rogers & Hammerstein. The words are:

When you walk through a storm,
Hold your head up high,
And don't be afraid of the dark,
At the end of the storm is a golden sky.
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown,
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
And you'll never walk alone.
You'll never walk alone.

Mel: God, your faith, your family and your friends all love you and will always be there to give you strength.

God has a plan for all of us and his plan for you is to show how to kick breast cancer butt! I layed in bed last night and couldn't sleep because I prayed for you and am continuing to do so. There is not a weak bone or ounce of weak spirit in your body, don't ever let anything take that away. You are WAY too hard headed and stubborn for that. I will be here every inch of the way no matter what. I love you!

Mel, Wasson, and Charley:
You guys are in our prayers. I still cannot believe this. GOD WILL GET YOU THROUGH THIS!!!! You know that we will do ANYTHING we can to help you during this difficult time. Praise the Lord that you and Wasson have such a strong relationship with our Father in Heaven. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. God is good all the time and he is going to use this bad, yucky disease to glorify him. We love you. Like I told you the other day...I don't know what I would do without my Mel. YOU GO GIRL. I love you, HIL

This is a quote from Max Lucado's book, "Traveling Light":
Meet today's problems with today's strength. Don't start tackling tomorrow's problems until tomorrow. You do not have tomorrow's strength yet. you simply have enough for today....

Jesus made the same point in fewer words: "So don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matt. 6:34)

Mel, we'll be here for you every minute, of every day, 'til this is beat. Don't be afraid to ask for ANYTHING. We want to do this with you. By pulling our strengths together, we will all be stronger!

We love you

Mel,

As you know, you are not in this alone. God wants to be your strength. As a woman, a wife, and a mother, you immediately looked to our Lord to regenerate your strength and to lift you up during this storm.

2 Samuel 22:17
"He reached down from on high and took hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters."

The Lord is your rock and your shield. And remember we can cast our worries to him. You are in our daily prayers, Mel. We will be praying for you and praising Him every step of the way! Love, Amy Lounsbery & Family
