Last night when I got home I just felt it was mentally time to do it. I wasn't really all that nervous, and to be honest, my scalp was starting to get very tender from all the dead hair. I was worried about waking up in the morning with hair all over my pillow or hair falling out in Charley's breakfast or some other meal I might be preparing. So, I decided that Aug. 27th, 2008 would be the last time I would give in to my cancer journey. The chemo is giving me my life and from here on out, the cancer that I once had can take nothing more from me. The one positive thing, I was really impressed with the shape and size of my head. No wierd moles or birthmarks that I didn't know about. All the hair that is left on my head will go ahead and fall out in a couple of days and then I will officially be slick. I hate to say it, but Britney Spears doesn't have anything on me!
I have posted a few pics of us below, but if you want to see how it all went down, click on the album below. All I ask is that you don't cry. That would be allowing cancer to do it's job. Rejoice and be happy. I am, why shouldn't you!?
Now you see it...............
Now you don't!
My little angel supporting me every step of the way!
This is a bag that Ryan custom-made for me! I love it!
This is a picture of my wig. Not bad.
This is me going out for the first time since "The Big Buzz".

Curtis and I think you look beautiful! But Wass looks really good in your wig too...although we could've done without the leather chaps visual:) Bald chicks are hot!!!
Melanie,
You are so beautiful. Your beauty wasn't defined by one single hair on your head, your beauty is defined by the poise, grace, and courage that you are fighting this battle with. The wig you chose is great, but I have to admit that I really like the hats too! I know that the attitude you are taking with this fight is a source of inspiration for more people that you can ever know! I am amazed at every post I read from you. I sincerely hope that you recover quickly from this Chemo round. You are in my prayers!

Kevin and I think you look amazing. However we are not a big fan of Wasson in the wig. However we got a huge laugh out of it. Mel you are so brave! You are always inspiring me. Personally we like the bald look or the baseball hat the best. But the scarf and cap is super stylish. Whatever you do you will look beautiful. Thanks for sharing your photos with us. Love HIL
You look beautiful as always!

ok...well I'm just echoing everyone here, but Melody...you always have been one of the most beautiful girls I've known, and you are just one of those lucky people who don't even need a headful of hair to still be striking. But, of course, the most beautiful part of you is your spirit. Thank you for continuing to inspire ALL of us!!
I would be having a blast shaving my head. Did you feel a little like Britney Spears? For fun, I might have done a mohawk for a day and gone out in public, maybe even getting hot pink hairspray or something. I think you should get a tattoo on your head. It wont hurt, I promise. Ryan looks totally HOT in the wig...which by the way, is cute! I wouldn't worry about it, I love you bald. I would get as many funny hats to wear as possible and have so much fun with this.
Love, A
Melody, you are amazing and I am so insired be you everday! I love the new do, you look great. I also have to say that I like the baseball cap look, very cute on you. I hope you're feeling better than expected. We're praying for you.
Melody, you look amazing! I loved every single minute of the photo album -- I seriously laughed out loud at least 10 times. Ella thinks I'm crazy...and is now very worried that I'm going to completely lose my patience and buzz her shaggy shaggy hair. :)
